A Green Belt with Black Velvet
(Water Gallery 1)
I don't expect everyone to like these as much as I do, but I hope you derive some level of enjoyment looking at them.
I've always been fascinated by high speed photos of fluids in motion. I've taken plenty of photos of this subject, the splashing of water as it flows over rocks in the creek, but I was always bothered by the background. Even with really good background blur it just never looked like what I wanted. So I convinced my son that hiking into the greenbelt and spending 30 to 45 minutes standing in knee deep water holding up a sheet of black velvet would be a great way to spend the afternoon. (See the last photo) Oddly enough he agreed. These photos are the result. I have some other ideas on how to take photos of this subject matter that might also be interesting. I hope to explore them soon. .... if we get more rain that is.
