November 7th and 8th was the SVRA Vintage Car Races out at COTA. In addition to the vintage races there was also a Motostalgia auction and the Tran Am series race. Unfortunately it seemed to me that the weather discouraged many of the vintage racers from showing up. There were still lots of Porsche's and old Mustangs, but it seemed like many of the more interesting and unique cars weren't there this year. But then I was only at the track on Saturday. Perhaps they kept them under cover until the better weather showed up on Sunday |

Despite the weather on Saturday Max and I had a good time looking at all the cars in the Motostalgia auction. I don't have nearly as many photos as I would have liked because they had the cars packed pretty tightly together under cover. So it would have just been a bunch of photos of the front or back end of them. But there were some that even that view was good enough to take and share. I would have to say the highlights for me were the Nash Metropolitan and the Toyota FJ-40. The other cars were great too, but those 2 are both rare and very cool in my opinion. I also really enjoyed the old Jaguars on hand. Be sure and take note of the price they got for the AMG McLarean on the second row of photos. |

We stuck around for the first few laps of the Trans Am race but it didn't really interest either of us. The field was mostly new model Cameros, Mustangs, and Chargers, with a few Vettes sprinkled in. There were also 1 or 2 what I think were Vipers, and 1 lone Aston Martin. But one thing I really enjoyed standing in the middle of the Trans Am cars while they all warmed up in the paddock area waiting to get on the track. I only wish my camera did a better job of recording the deep rumbling sound. It was truly fantastic. |
