A Little Bit About Me
My name is Mike Rector. I'm not a professional photographer but I do enjoy learning by trial and error while I take photos. I'm also, quite obviously, not a professional web master either. LOL. My only "formal" photography training was 1 semester of highschool photography. That was many, MANY, years ago and was mostly focused on working in a dark room. Digital photography wasn't even a thing back then.
I bought my first DSLR in 2012. It was a Nikon D5100. Eventually I got a better, but still "enthusiest" grade D5300. I now use a Nikon D500. So a more professional body, but still crop sensor. I still love it, but do find myself longing for a full frame mirrorless body.
I set this simple web site up for 2 reasons. First and foremost was so I could share large galleries with my friends and family with out having to grant copyright to the various social media companies or other photography sharing sites. I'll suppress my rant on that subject for now. Secondly I do hope to someday improve my skills and artistic eye enough to actually support my increasingly expensive photography habit by selling a few images every now and then. But I don't want to turn this into a "job".

Having said that, I do have an Instagram account where I occasionaly post photos. You can find a link to it at the top of the main page
I'm also a motorcycle rider, and am going to give making primarily motorcyle travel and other moto related videos a try as well. Just as I don't want to turn photographyt into a job, I'm not looking to become a full time vlogger, youtubber, or whatever you wish to call people who's livelyhood is derived from social media. I really don't want what I love to become a job. But I follow several touring and adventure riders as well as watch informational "how-to" videos on a regular basis. So I wanted to try and give back to that community.
You can find my videos on my Youtube channel "MJR-Rides"
With that all that in mind I do ask that you please be respectful that all the photos I'm sharing are copyrighted. I don't really have an issue with you using one of my images as your personal desktop background, provided that my copyright stays in the files metadata and my water mark remains visible. If you want to use them in any other way, or would like a print of one of them, please send me an email at contact@mjrdzine.com and we can discuss it.
I do hope to set up a store front, or some other way to allow people to directly purchase prints or digital copyright. But for now there is no such system in place on this site.
